2009 T-BALL Rules – 5 and 6-Year Olds
- Team & Fields
- Both teams are responsible for post-game field maintenance and clean up around the bleacher and bench
areas.
- Home team is responsible for picking up the bases at the end of the game (except on the Pinto Field).
- Each team is responsible to provide one (1) new game ball.
- The base paths shall
be 40 feet.
- The pitcher’s
mound will be 38 feet.
- Aluminum bats are
allowed. The maximum length will be 27 in.
- No Little League bats.
- Participation
- All games will be four innings with a one hour and 15 minute time limit.
- The T-Ball League
is an instructional league. In order to allow each player an opportunity to learn
as many positions as possible, no player may play more than one inning at any one position.
- The team will play
all players, with no catcher, and extra outfielders.
- Each half inning will
consist of one complete batting order.
- A player will be issued
a warning for throwing his/her bat. After that, the batter will have to forfeit
their turn at bat for that inning.
- There will be no forfeits
in this league. Every effort should be made to play a game between the teams.
- There will be no umpires
or scorebooks. A safety ball will be used. No score will be kept.
- The tee shall always
be placed at the belt or lower and shall be one foot in front of the batter’s front foot.
- No bunting will be
allowed. Hitting only the tee is considered a dead ball. There are no strike outs.
- The infield fly rule
will not apply. A runner is not allowed to lead off.
- During the game no
more than two coaches will be allowed on the outfield while their team is on defense.
Coaches may not be on the infield except during a time out.
- On any overthrow runners may not advance.
- Once the ball is thrown
into the infield the play is ruled dead.
- The pitcher will remain
on the pitching rubber until the ball is hit.
- During the last portion
of the season (with commissioner’s approval) coaches will pitch. If a play is made on a batter or runner and he/she
is called out, that person must leave that base.
- Rubber spikes are
allowed, but not mandatory. Metal cleats may not be worn.
- A team cannot start
a game with fewer than 6 players. A Team cannot start or continue a game without
an adult manager or coach.
- The T-Ball commissioner
will make the decision if and when a rainout will be made up.
- Play will be stopped at the first sight of lightning.
